Sam from Backcountry Life does a on and off trail review of the Tusk Recon Tire.

The Tusk Recon Tire mounts up easily and is being used with the Tubliss

This creates a perfect combination between a plush ride and the best traction possible.

The Tusk Recon Hybrid tire was built to be a tire that wears well but also provides you with better traction over a standard tire.

The Tusk Recon Hybrid tire at first felt like the gripping power wasn’t all that good but it turns out that it needed to be broken it a bit.

The more I rode on the Recon Tire the better the stopping power and grip.

The Tire held up and had no puncture’s in 205 miles of gnarly Idaho Single track.

What does it wear like?

Do be honest this tire wears better than most Hybrid tires but it isn’t as grippy as the other Gummier Tires out there.

Its not quite as gummy as the Dunlop AT81EX or the Kenda Ibex. I would compare it more to the IRCVE33s tire as far as gummy – ness goes.

This is a really good tire for the money.

This is a very affordable tire that has good grip and last longer than the gummy stickier type tires.

We had to ride 5-6 miles on pavement one of the trips and that didn’t really impact the tire.

I know that pavement will destroy some hybrid or gummy tires.

This tire is built for the guy who wants better traction but doesn’t want to give up the wear time of a normal tire.

It really all depends on your riding style but the Tusk Recon Hybrid tire will wear better than most hybrid or gummy tires.

Now.

This also means that it doesn’t have as much grip as the other gummy or hybrid tires but that it will last longer.
