Description:
Donek Daze 2021 registration is not ready quite yet. (will update when it is)
Dates are:
January 20-22
February 17-19
March 24-26
April 7-9
This is a carving based clinic for intermediate level riders and above. The general format will be similar to last years: https://www.donek.com/product/donek-days/
(ignore the dates on that link as they are from last year)
However changes due to Covid will not allow us to do the indoor training at Woodward at Copper, and video review will be after the day on Zoom.
*Crucial Considerations*
Turning vs. Carving- Perhaps the most common misnomer in snowboarding, many riders refer to any turn as a “carve”. When in fact, a carved turn is a very distinct thing, in contrast to a skidded turn.
If you are unsure whether you are carving or not, this clinic will not be the best use of your time and resources. Instead, you could book Giri for your own private lesson at Copper to dial in your carving foundation, or head to your local resort and check out a lesson with the Snowboard School there. With a little guidance and practice, you could easily be ready for a future round of Donek Daze.
Conditions -The primary goal is an exploration of carving technique(s), and the weather can be a big variable in the Rocky Mountains. Considering this, our focus may shift to freeriding powder in snowy conditions. In this scenario, there will still be ample opportunity for refining turn technique, terrain-reading skills, and overall board control.
Pandemic- Masks must be worn at all times, in all public areas around Copper Mountain Resort, and appropriate distance should be maintained. Special considerations may be made for chair lift riding to accommodate extra space. Warming areas are limited and no food or drink is allowed inside these spaces. Participants are responsible for bringing or supplying their own food and water each day. Food and Beverage outlets are limited to take-out only at this time. Video Review sessions will be facilitated via zoom by Giri and Ryan after the day on snow has concluded.
