Invasive fish species in Australia

Duration: 9:43 Views: 19K Submitted: 6 years ago
Description: It's time for a cleanup, there is an invasive fish species in our Australian waterways.
Tilapia are native to warm, fresh, and brackish waters of Africa, South and Central America, southern India, and Sri Lanka.
They were introduced into Australia as an ornamental fish in 1960 and have since become a pest in our waterways. These mouth breeding fish are overtaking the homes of our native fish such as the Australian Bass.
Big fines apply if you don't dispose of the captured Tilapia properly.
