Description: Skateboarding legend Eric Koston (@erickoston) has been a sneaker head since first visiting Japan at age 19. As a teenage skateboarder, finding affordable footwear that worked for street skateboarding was not as easy as it is today. Before the dawn of signature skate shoes, Koston and friends would search for new, old stock of Nikes to skate in. In hindsight, Koston now realizes that those teenage searches for Nikes influenced his rise through skateboarding.

Beginning with eS Footwear, Koston started designing his own shoes over twenty years ago, and in the time since, has had a hand in the design process for any footwear that features the name Koston.

Recently, Clinton Yates (@clintonyates) of ESPN’s Now Or Never sat down with Koston to talk skate progression, the influence of skateboarding in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and some of his favorite Nike shoes in his own personal Mt. Rushmore of Nike shoes.
